Rustic Lodge - About Us

All About Family We first considered the idea of coming to Rustic Lodge because we thought it might be a good way to build a stronger family. It would be a chance to let our kids learn how to work, understand business, build social skills and develop some real character. Well, they've become real mountain-loving 'characters' alright, but we still think we made the right decision.

We also wanted to build a place where people could 'get away,' charge their 'batteries' and spend some quality time with their family members. We've still got a ways to go, but hopefully we are on the right track. Bottom line, we just love it here, and hope that you and your family will enjoy your stay with us just as much.

We call Rustic Lodge "A True Escape." And we try to make it just that: A true escape, at least for a few days, from the craziness, pollution and general stresses of your 'other' life. Then, when you return to real life, you'll be fresh and clear enough to solve the world's---or at least your world's, biggest problems.

You'll be comfortable enough in your cabin or campsite, but if you want to come into the lodge and relax, you are welcome to. We have a big screen TV room, and we'll put on the big game, or perhaps even a good movie. There are snacks available too. You can sit down to a game of chess, any number of other games, or borrow a book from our library.

If you've come up the mountain to enjoy the outdoors, well, we've got plenty of that as well. Fishing, boating, hiking, climbing are a walk away. You can even jump on a mountain bike and race a downhill, or run around the lake if you need to burn off some steam. Sandi swims across the lake every summer, and I'm sure she'd be happy to have you along side. You can hike Bryce Canyon, or wade the narrows of Zion's National Park. You can explore slot canyons in Grand Staircase National Monument... well, you probably get the picture--there's lots and lots of clean, fun activities you can participate in. Of course, you can also sit on the edge of the lake and watch the birds if you like. We have around 250 species here, and most of them love to be watched.

Whatever you like to do, our family will try to help provide you a way to enjoy it--and help you make what we call "A True Escape."
